Advice for Kyilü

I bow to the gurus of the wisdom, sign, and oral lineages,
who directly reveal our primordial self-awareness!

For the practice of the Great Perfection, the heart of the path,
at the outset you need a steady attitude of renunciation.
As the obscurations are purified, adverse conditions on the path are pacified
and the accumulations are perfected, bringing conducive conditions
through the gathering of vast stores of merit.

You need to tame afflicted thoughts and master the sutras,
and, cutting through attachment and aversion, give rise to all-pervading bodhicitta,
and the supreme devotion of seeing the guru and your mind as inseparable.

When your mind—clear, aware, and uninterrupted—
is left free of seer and seen, free from hope and fear,
concepts are just like rainfall on a lake.

Things appear in myriad ways, yet are empty in essence
and luminous by nature, vividly experienced:
the way things really are transcends seeing, hearing, and expression.

To be steadily and constantly alert, without distraction—this is the point.
Focusing intensely on this practice of the most profound intent,
think solely of beings’ benefit in whatever virtue you perform,
and seal with dedications the accumulation of all such excellent actions.

in the glorious forest near the southern Yelphuk Cave.
