The Melody of Immortality
A Long Life Supplication for Phakchok Tulku
ༀ་སྭ་སྟི། རྒྱལ་ཀུན་སྤྱི་གཟུགས་དཔལ་ལྡན་ཀརྨ་པའི། །
om svasti, gyelkün chizuk pelden karmapé
Oṃ svasti! Embodiment of all victors, essence of the glorious Karmapa’s
མཁྱེན་བརྩེའི་རང་གཟུགས་རབ་འབྱམས་རྩ་གསུམ་ལྷས། །
khyentsé rangzuk rapjam tsasum lhé
wisdom and love, through the wondrous power and
ཐུགས་བསྐྱེད་ནུས་པ་སྨད་དུ་བྱུང་བ་ཡིས། །
tukyé nüpa médu jungwa yi
aspirations of the boundless three roots,
མཆོག་གི་སྤྲུལ་སྐུ་ཞབས་པད་བརྟན་གྱུར་ཅིག །
chok gi trülku zhapé tengyur chik
may the lotus feet of this supreme incarnation stand firm!
འཕགས་པའི་ཐུགས་བསྐྱེད་གཞན་ཕན་ཁོ་ནའི་ཕྱིར། །
pakpé tukyé zhenpen khoné chir
His noble aspiration is solely to benefit others.
རྒྱལ་བསྟན་སྤྱི་དང་དཔལ་ལྡན་སྟག་ལུང་པའི། །
gyelten chi dang pelden taklungpé
As he unfolds the banquet of Dharma of scripture and realization
ལུང་རྟོགས་ཆོས་ཀྱི་དགའ་སྟོན་སྤེལ་བཞིན་དུ། །
lungtok chö kyi gatön pel zhindu
of the victor’s teachings in general and of the glorious Taklung,
གསང་གསུམ་གོ་ཆ་རྟག་བརྟན་འཕོ་མེད་གསོལ། །
sang sum gocha takten pomé söl
may the armor of his three secrets be forever steadfast!
ཕན་བདེའི་ཕྲིན་ལས་འཛམ་གླིང་ཀུན་ཏུ་ཁྱབ། །
pendé trinlé dzamling küntu khyap
May his activities spread throughout the world, bringing benefit and bliss!
ཚུལ་གནས་ཐོས་བསམ་སྒོམ་པའི་དཔལ་མཐར་ཕྱིན། །
tsül né tö sam gompé pel tarchin
May he reach the glorious summit of authentic study, reflection, and meditation!
དོན་གཉིས་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་བཟང་པོའི་དགེ་མཚན་གྱིས། །
dön nyi lhündrup zangpö getsen gyi
And, with many virtuous omens of the spontaneous accomplishment of the two aims,
འཇིག་རྟེན་གསུམ་ན་མཛེས་ཤིང་གསལ་གྱུར་ཅིག །
jikten sum na dzé shing sel gyur chik
may he beautify and illuminate the three worlds!
ཅེས་པའང་མར་ཐང་རི་བོ་ཆེ་འཕགས་མཆོག་ཡང་སྲིད་ཀྱི་ཞབས་བརྟན་ཞིག་དགོས་ཞེས་གཉེར་ཚེ་རྒྱལ་ལགས་ནས་བསྐུལ་ངོར། དཔལ་སྟག་ལུང་པའི་དུས་མཐའི་ཆོས་སྨྲ་བ་ཤཱཀྱའི་དགེ་སྦྱོང་ཐུབ་བསྟན་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་ཉི་མར་འབོད་པའི་བྲིས་པ་དགེ་ལེགས་འཕེལ།། །།
In response to Tsegyel’s request for a long life supplication for the Phakchok reincarnation of the Riwoché monastery of Lower Valley (Martang), this was written by a follower of Śākyamuni in this final age, the Dharma teacher from the glorious Taklung lineage known by the name Tupten Jangchup Chökyi Nyima. May virtue and excellence increase!
