Offering Food and Drink
Before meals, offer your food and drink by reciting this prayer from The Assembled Realization of the Gurus (Lama Gongdü) together with the following three verses. Alternatively, if you wish to make a concise offering, simply recite the three verses beginning with “To the precious buddha, the unsurpassable teacher...”
༈ བླ་མ་དགོངས་འདུས་ལས་བྱུང་བའི་ཇ་མཆོད་རིམ་པ་ནི།
Tea Offering Liturgy from The Assembled Realization of the Gurus
ན་མོ་གུ་རུ་དེ་ཝ་ཌཱ་ཀི་ནཱི་ཧཱུྃ།
namo guru deva dakini hum
namo guru deva ḍākiṇī hūṃ
ཧྲཱིཿ དུས་གསུམ་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀུན་གྱི་ངོ་བོ་ཉིད༔
hrih༔ dü sum sangyé kün gyi ngowo nyi༔
hrīḥ༔ Essence of all buddhas throughout the three times,༔
བྱིན་རླབས་རྩ་བ་ཨོ་རྒྱན་རིན་པོ་ཆེ༔
jinlap tsawa orgyen rinpoché༔
root of blessings, precious master from Uḍḍiyana,༔
འགྲོ་མགོན་པདྨ་འབྱུང་གནས་སྤྲུལ་པའི་སྐུ༔
drogön pema jungné trülpé ku༔
protector of beings, nirmāṇakāya Padmasambhava—༔
དྲིན་ཅན་བླ་མ་རྣམས་ལ་མཆོད་པ་འབུལ༔
drinchen lama nam la chöpa bül༔
to the gracious gurus, I make this offering.༔
ཞི་ཁྲོ་ཡི་དམ་འདུས་པའི་རང་བཞིན་ཅན༔
zhitro yidam düpé rangzhin chen༔
Innate embodiment of the peaceful and wrathful yidams,༔
དངོས་གྲུབ་རྩ་བ་ཐུགས་རྗེ་སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས༔
ngödrup tsawa tukjé chenrezik༔
root of siddhis, compassionate Avalokiteśvara,༔
རྟ་མགྲིན་དབང་ཆེན་འཁོར་འདས་སྤྱི་དཔལ་གཙོ༔
tamdrin wangchen khordé chipel tso༔
Mighty Hayagrīva, glorious chief of samsara and nirvana—༔
ཡི་དམ་ལྷ་ཚོགས་རྣམས་ལ་མཆོད་པ་འབུལ༔
yidam lhatsok nam la chöpa bül༔
to the host of yidam deities, I make this offering.༔
མ་མོ་མཁའ་འགྲོ་ཀུན་གྱི་གཙོ་མོ་སྟེ༔
mamo khandro kün gyi tsomo té༔
Queen of all mamos, all ḍākiṇīs,༔
བར་ཆད་སེལ་མཛད་རྡོ་རྗེ་ཕག་མོ་ཡུམ༔
barché sel dzé dorjé pakmo yum༔
dispeller of obstacles, Lady Vajravārāhī,༔
རིགས་ཀྱི་ལྷ་མོ་གསང་བ་ཡེ་ཤེས་དབྱིངས༔
riki lhamo sangwa yeshé ying༔
goddess of the family, Guhya Jñānadhātu—༔
མ་སྲིང་མཁའ་འགྲོའི་ཚོགས་ལ་མཆོད་པ་འབུལ༔
masing khandrö tsok la chöpa bül༔
to the mother and sister ḍākiṇīs, I make this offering.༔
ཧྲཱིཿ བླ་མ་ཡི་དམ་མཁའ་འགྲོའི་ཚོགས་བཅས་ལ༔
hrih༔ lama yidam khandrö tsok ché la༔
hrīḥ༔ To the host of gurus, yidams, and ḍākiṇīs,༔
བདག་གཞན་རབ་གུས་གདུང་བས་མཆོད་པ་འབུལ༔
dak zhen rap gü dungwé chöpa bül༔
we make this offering with heartfelt devotion.༔
ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཐུགས་རྗེའི་བྱིན་རླབས་ཀྱིས༔
khyé kyi yeshé tukjé jinlap kyi༔
With the blessings of your wisdom and compassion,༔
མི་རྟོག་ཏིང་འཛིན་ཡེ་ཤེས་བསྐྱེད་དུ་གསོལ༔
mitok tingdzin yeshé kyé du söl༔
make concept-free samadhi and wisdom dawn!
ཉམས་རྟོགས་རིག་པའི་རྩལ་ཆེན་སྦར་དུ་གསོལ༔
nyamtok rikpé tselchen bar du söl༔
Make experience, realization, and the strength of awareness blaze!༔
སྐུ་གསུམ་ཞིང་ཁམས་འབྱོངས་པར་མཛད་དུ་གསོལ༔
ku sum zhing kham jongpar dzé du söl༔
Help us to perfect the three-kāya purelands!༔
བསྐྱེད་རྫོགས་དོན་གཉིས་འབྲས་བུ་ཁོང་ཆུད་ནས༔
kyé dzok dön nyi drebu khong chü né༔
Until, realizing the twofold fruition of generation and completion༔
ཕྱིར་མི་ལྡོག་པའི་ས་ཆེན་ཐོབ་ནས་ཀྱང་༔
chir midokpé sachen top né kyang༔
and thereby attaining the great irreversible state,༔
སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་སངས་རྒྱས་མ་ཐོབ་བར༔
semchen tamché sangyé matop bar༔
until all beings have reached awakening,༔
འགྲོ་བའི་དོན་དུ་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་འབྱུང་བར་ཤོག༔
drowé döndu lhündrup jungwar shok༔
may their every benefit be spontaneously accomplished!༔
ཅེས་བླ་མ་དགོངས་པ་འདུས་པ་ལས་རྩ་བ་གསུམ་གྱི་གསོལ་འདེབས་རྒྱུན་ཁྱེར་བསྡུས་པ་ཇ་མཆོད་དུ་ཚིག་བསྒྱུར་བའོ། །
This is the concise daily supplication to the Three Roots from The Assembled Realization of the Gurus, adjusted for the purpose of tea offerings.
༈ སངས་རྒྱས་ཡོན་ཏན་བསམ་མི་ཁྱབ། །
sangyé yönten sam mikhyap
The Buddha’s qualities surpass thought.
ཆོས་ཀྱི་ཡོན་ཏན་བསམ་མི་ཁྱབ། །
chö kyi yönten sam mikhyabp
The Dharma’s qualities surpass thought.
དགེ་འདུན་ཡོན་ཏན་བསམ་མི་ཁྱབ། །
gendün yönten sam mikhyap
The Sangha’s qualities surpass thought.
བསམ་མི་ཁྱབ་ལ་དད་བྱས་པའི། །
sam mikhyap la chö jepé
The result of making offerings to these inconceivable three–
རྣམ་པར་སྨིན་པའང་བསམ་མི་ཁྱབ། །
nampar minpang sam mikhyap
that itself surpasses thought.
རྣམ་དག་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག། །།
namdak zhing du kyewar shok
May we all be reborn in the pure realms!
༈ སྟོན་པ་བླ་མེད་སངས་རྒྱས་རིན་པོ་ཆེ། །
tönpa lamé sangyé rinpoché
To the precious Buddha, the unsurpassable teacher,
སྐྱོབ་པ་བླ་མེད་དམ་ཆོས་རིན་པོ་ཆེ། །
kyopa lamé damchö rinpoché
to the precious Dharma, the unsurpassable protector,
འདྲེན་པ་བླ་མེད་དགེ་འདུན་རིན་པོ་ཆེ། །
drenpa lamé gendün rinpoché
to the precious Sangha, the unsurpassable guide—
སྐྱབས་གནས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གསུམ་ལ་མཆོད་པ་འབུལ། །
kyapné könchok sum la chöpa bül
to our refuge, the Three Jewels, we offer this.
བདག་སོགས་འཁོར་བཅས་ཚེ་རབས་ཐམས་ཅད་དུ། །
dak sok khor ché tsérap tamché du
Throughout all our lifetimes,
དཀོན་མཆོག་གསུམ་པོ་རྣམ་ཡང་མི་འབྲལ་ཞིང༌། །
könchok sumpo namyang midrel zhing
may we never be parted from the Three Jewels,
དཀོན་མཆོག་གསུམ་ལ་རྒྱུན་དུ་མཆོད་པ་ཡིས། །
könchok sum la gyün du chöpa yi
and by making constant offerings to the Three Jewels,
དཀོན་མཆོག་གསུམ་གྱི་བྱིན་རླབས་འཇུག་པར་ཤོག །
könchok sum gyi jinlap jukpar shok
may we receive their blessings!
ཁྱོད་ལ་བསྟོད་ཅིང་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པའི་མཐུས། །
khyö la tö ching sölwa tapé tü
Through the power of praising and supplicating you,
བདག་སོགས་གང་ན་གནས་པའི་ས་ཕྱོགས་སུ། །
dak sok gang na nepé sa chok su
please bestow upon myself and others, no matter where we be,
ནད་གདོན་དབུལ་ཕོངས་འཐབ་རྩོད་ཞི་བ་དང༌། །
né dön ul pong tap tsö zhiwa dang
freedom from illness, from harm, from destitution, conflict, and disputes;
ཆོས་དང་བཀྲ་ཤིས་འཕེལ་བར་མཛད་དུ་གསོལ། །
chö dang trashi pelwar dzedu söl
and make the Dharma and auspiciousness increase!
At the end of the meal, dedicate the merit with the following:
༈ བསོད་ནམས་སྟོབས་ཆེན་འདི་ཡི་མཐུས། །
sönam topchen diyi tü
By the great power of this merit,
སྦྱིན་བདག་འཁོར་དང་བཅས་རྣམས་ལ། །
jindak khor dang ché nam la
may the aims of the sponsors and their associates
ཚེ་འདིར་བསམ་པའི་དོན་འགྲུབ་ཅིང༌། །
tsé dir sampé dön drup ching
all be fulfilled in this very life!
བར་ཆད་ཞི་ནས་བཀྲ་ཤིས་པ། །
barché zhi né trashipa
May they enjoy auspiciousness free of obstacles,
བསམ་པ་འགྲུབ་པའི་བཀྲ་ཤིས་ཞོག །
sampa drupé trashi shok
and may their wishes be auspiciously fulfilled!
བསོད་ནམས་འདི་ཡིས་ཐམས་ཅད་གཟིགས་པ་ཉིད། །
sönam diyi tamché zikpa nyi
Through this merit may all attain omniscience
ཐོབ་ནས་ཉེས་པའི་དགྲ་རྣམས་ཕམ་བྱས་ནས། །
topné nyepé dranam pam jené
and conquer the enemy, wrong action!
སྐྱེ་རྒ་ན་འཆི་རྦ་བརླབས་འཁྲུགས་པ་ཡི། །
kyega nachi balap trukpa yi
May all be freed from samsara’s ocean
སྲིད་པའི་མཚོ་ལས་འགྲོ་བ་གྲོལ་བར་ཤོག། །།
sipé tsölé drowa drölwar shok
and its pounding waves of birth, aging, sickness, and death!
