ན་མོ་གུ་རུ་བུདྡྷ་བོ་དྷི་ས་ཏྭཱ་ཡ།
namo guru buddha bodhisatvaya
Homage to the gurus, buddhas, and bodhisattvas!
ཆོས་དབྱིངས་ཀུན་ཁྱབ་རྒྱལ་བ་སྲས་བཅས་དང༌། །
chöying künkhyap gyelwa sé ché dang
To the victors and all your heirs, pervading the whole of dharmadhātu,
ཁྱད་པར་མི་མཇེད་འཇིག་རྟེན་ནུབ་ཀྱི་ཕྱོགས། །
khyepar mijé jikten nup kyi chok
to Lotus Essence in particular, the sovereign of all bodhisattvas,
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་ན་རབ་བཞུགས་པ། །
pemé khepé zhing na rap zhukpa
he who dwells to the west of this Sahā World
སེམས་དཔའ་ཀུན་གཙོ་པདྨའི་མྱུ་གུ་ནི། །
sempa kün tso pemé nyugu ni
in the Lotus Covered Realm,
རྒྱལ་སྲས་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་ཚོགས་དང་བཅས་པ་ལ། །
gyelsé gyatsö tsok dang chepa la
accompanied by an ocean-like assembly of the victors' heirs,
གུས་པས་ཕྱག་འཚལ་སྙིང་ནས་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆི། །
güpé chaktsel nying né kyap su chi
I bow with respect, sincerely taking refuge within my heart.
སྒོ་གསུམ་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་དགེ་རྩར་བཅས་པས་མཆོད། །
go sum longchö getsar chepé chö
I offer you my three gates, my riches and roots of virtue,
སྡིག་སྒྲིབ་ཉེས་ལྟུང་གང་མཆིས་མཐོལ་ཞིང་བཤགས། །
dikdrip nyetung gang chi töl zhing shak
and I admit and confess all my misdeeds, faults, and failings.
སྲིད་ཞིའི་དགེ་ལེགས་ཀུན་ལ་རྗེས་ཡི་རང༌། །
si zhi gelek kün la jé yi rang
I rejoice in all the virtuous goodness of both existence and peace,
བླ་མེད་ཆོས་ཀྱི་འཁོར་ལོ་བསྐོར་བར་བསྐུལ། །
lamé chö kyi khorlo korwar kül
and I request that you turn the wheel of the unexcelled Dharma.
བསྐལ་བརྒྱར་མྱ་ངན་མི་འདའ་བཞུགས་གསོལ་འདེབས། །
kel gyar nya ngen mi da zhuk söldep
I beseech you to remain for one hundred eons without passing into nirvana,
དགེ་རྩ་མི་གནས་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཆེན་པོར་བསྔོ། །
getsa mi né jangchup chenpor ngo
and my roots of virtue I dedicate to great unabiding awakening.
སངས་རྒྱས་སྲས་བཅས་བསོད་ནམས་མཐུ་དཔལ་དང༌། །
sangyé sé ché sönam tu pel dang
By the merit, power, and splendor of the buddhas and their children,
དུས་གསུམ་བསགས་པའི་ལེགས་སྤྱད་གང་མཆིས་དང༌། །
dü sum sakpé lek ché gang chi dang
by every single deed of goodness throughout the three times,
སྟོང་ཉིད་རྟེན་འབྱུང་བསླུ་མེད་བདེན་པ་ཡིས། །
tongnyi tenjung lumé denpa yi
and by the unfailing truth of emptiness and dependent origination,
བདག་གཞན་འབྲེལ་ཐོག་འགྲོ་བ་མ་ལུས་པ། །
dak zhen drel tok drowa malüpa
may I and all beings with whom I have made a connection,
ནམ་ཞིག་འཆི་བའི་དུས་བྱེད་གྱུར་པའི་ཚེ། །
namzhik chiwé dü jé gyurpé tsé
when the time of death has come,
འཁོར་བ་ངན་སོང་སྐྱེ་གནས་ཀུན་སྤངས་ཏེ། །
khorwa ngensong kyené künpang té
leave behind all further rebirths in the evil of samsara,
དག་པའི་ཞིང་མཆོག་པདྨས་ཁེབས་པ་རུ། །
dakpé zhing chok pemé khebpa ru
and miraculously take birth, within a single instant,
སྐད་ཅིག་ཙམ་གྱིས་བརྫུས་ཏེ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
kechik tsam gyi dzü té kyewar shok
in the eminent Lotus Covered Pureland!
རིན་ཆེན་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་ཀྱི་ས་བོན་ནི། །
rinchen jangchup sem kyi sabön ni
The precious mind of awakening is its seed,
རྒྱལ་བའི་སྲས་ཀྱིས་ཡོངས་སྦྱངས་ལས་སྨིན་པ། །
gyelwé sé kyi yong jang lé minpa
the purification of the victors and their heirs its maturation.
སྙིགས་མ་ལྔ་ཡི་མིང་ཡང་མི་གྲགས་ཤིང༌། །
nyikma nga yi ming yang mi drak shing
There, even the names of the five degenerations are unknown,
ངོ་མཚར་ཡོན་ཏན་བྱེ་བས་རབ་བརྒྱན་པ། །
ngotsar yönten jewé rap gyenpa
and everything is adorned with wondrous qualities—
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
pemé khepé zhing du kyewar shok
may we take birth in the Lotus Covered Realm!
ཐ་གྲུ་ཡངས་ཤིང་རྒྱ་ཚད་དཔག་ཏུ་མེད། །
tadru yang shing gyatsé pak tumé
Expansive in size, its dimensions are boundless,
ལག་མཐིལ་ལྟར་མཉམ་གསེར་གྱི་ས་གཞི་ལ། །
laktil tar nyam ser gyi sa zhi la
its golden earth smooth as the palm of the hand,
རིན་ཐང་མེད་པའི་རིན་ཆེན་གཅལ་དུ་བཀྲམ། །
rintang mepé rinchen chel du tram
and strewn all around with priceless gems—
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
pemé khepé zhing du kyewar shok
may we take birth in the Lotus Covered Realm!
ནོར་བུའི་ལྗོན་ཤིང་གསེར་གྱི་དྲྭ་བས་འབྲེལ། །
norbü jönshing ser gyi drawé drel
Its jewel trees are strung with lattices of gold,
ལོ་འདབ་སྲབ་འཇམ་ཡངས་པའི་དར་ཟབ་གོས། །
lodap sapjam yangpé darzap gö
with soft leaves supple and lush like velvet,
འབྲས་བུ་ལྷ་ཡི་བཅུད་དང་རིན་ཆེན་སྨིན། །
drebu lha yi chü dang rinchen min
and fruits of divine nectar and precious gems—
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
pemé khepé zhing du kyewar shok
may we take birth in the Lotus Covered Realm!
ཡན་ལག་བརྒྱད་ལྡན་ཆུ་ཀླུང་སྣ་ཚོགས་འབབས། །
yenlak gyeden chulung natsok bap
Streams of water flow, there, with all eight qualities,
དྲི་ཞིམ་སྤོས་ཆུའི་རྫིང་བུས་ཀུན་ནས་གཏམས། །
drizhim pöchü dzingbü kün né tam
and perfumed, fragrant pools abound,
གསེར་གྱི་བྱེ་མ་རིན་ཆེན་ཕ་གུས་བསྐོར། །
ser gyi jema rinchen pagü kor
all fringed with golden sand that is set with jewels—
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
pemé khepé zhing du kyewar shok
may we take birth in the Lotus Covered Realm!
རྨ་བྱ་ཁྲུང་ཁྲུང་ནེ་ཙོ་ངང་ངུར་སོགས། །
maja trung trung netso ngang ngur sok
There are peacocks and cranes, parakeets and swans,
སྤྲུལ་པའི་འདབ་ཆགས་ལྟ་བས་ཆོག་མི་ཤེས། །
trülpé dapchak tawé chok mi shé
and many other fascinating birds quite miraculous,
ཀུན་ཀྱང་སངས་རྒྱས་མཐུ་ཡིས་ཆོས་སྒྲ་སྒྲོག །
kün kyang sangyé tu yi chö dra drok
and all, through the Buddha’s power, singing Dharma songs—
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
pemé khepé zhing du kyewar shok
may we take birth in the Lotus Covered Realm!
ཡིད་འོང་མེ་ཏོག་ཕྲེང་བས་ཀུན་ཏུ་ཁེབས། །
yi ong metok trengwé küntu khep
Flower garlands unfurl their loveliness everywhere,
པདྨོའི་སྐྱེད་ཚལ་འདོད་རྒུ་ཡིད་བཞིན་འཇོ། །
pemö kyetsel dögu yizhin jo
lotus groves yield all conceivable wishes,
བསིལ་བྱེད་ངད་པ་རེག་ན་བདེ་བར་རྒྱུ། །
sil jé ngepa rek na dewar gyu
and there are cool breezes, pleasant to the touch—
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
pemé khepé zhing du kyewar shok
may we take birth in the Lotus Covered Realm!
ངན་འགྲོའི་སྐྱེ་གནས་བྲལ་ཞིང་ལྷ་དང་མི། །
ngendrö kyené drel zhing lha dang mi
Free from lower rebirth, with only the exalted fortune
མཐོ་རིས་ཡོན་ཏན་འཕགས་པའི་ནོར་བདུན་གྱིས། །
tori yönten pakpé nor dün gyi
of the realms of gods and humans, the seven noble riches,
འབྱོར་པ་རབ་རྒྱས་བདེ་ཞིང་ལོ་ལེགས་པ། །
jorpa rap gyé dé zhing lo lekpa
the happiness this brings, and the endless years of bounty—
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
pemé khepé zhing du kyewar shok
may we take birth in the Lotus Covered Realm!
དྭངས་མ་བསམ་གཏན་ཟས་ཀྱིས་བདེ་བར་འཚོ། །
dangma samten zé kyi dewar tso
Blissfully nourished by the pure food of meditation,
ཚེ་རབས་དྲན་ཅིང་བློ་གྲོས་གཟུངས་སྤོབས་ལྡན། །
tserap dren ching lodrö zung pop den
remembering past lives, possessing wisdom, recall, and eloquence,
དེར་སྐྱེས་ཕྱིར་མི་ལྡོག་པའི་ས་ལ་གནས། །
der kyé chir midokpé sa la né
to be reborn there is to reach the level of non-returner—
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
pemé khepé zhing du kyewar shok
may we take birth in the Lotus Covered Realm!
རྒྱན་གོས་ཡོ་བྱད་རོལ་མོའི་ཁྱད་པར་སོགས། །
gyen gö yojé rölmö khyepar sok
Graced with ornaments, garments, supplies, and musical instruments—
འདོད་པའི་ཡོན་ཏན་བསམས་པ་ཙམ་གྱིས་འགྲུབ། །
döpé yönten sampa tsam gyi drup
all these and other pleasure objects, ours by merely thinking of them;
ཏིང་འཛིན་བདེ་ལྡན་སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཟུག་རྔུ་མེད། །
tingdzin deden dukngel zuk ngu mé
samadhi’s bliss enjoying, and free from pain and suffering—
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
pemé khepé zhing du kyewar shok
may we take birth in the Lotus Covered Realm!
ལྷ་ཡི་མེ་ཏོག་སྤོས་ཆུའི་ཆར་རྒྱུན་འབེབས། །
lha yi metok pöchü chargyün bep
Amid showers of flowers divine and fragrant water,
སྤྲུལ་པའི་ལྷ་མོས་མཆོད་ཅིང་བསྟོད་དབྱངས་སྒྲོག །
trülpé lhamö chö ching töyang drok
magical goddesses offer praise in voices melodious,
ཉིན་དང་མཚན་མེད་རྒྱལ་བའི་འོད་ཀྱིས་ཁྱབ། །
nyin dang tsenmé gyelwé ö kyi khyap
and day and night the conquerors’ light pervades—
པདྨས་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
pemé khepé zhing du kyewar shok
may we take birth in the Lotus Covered Realm!
བར་དོར་སངས་རྒྱས་སྤྲུལ་པས་མདུན་བསུ་ཞིང༌། །
bardor sangyé trülpé dün su zhing
May we be welcomed in the bardo by the emissaries of the buddhas,
སྒྲིབ་པའི་དྲྭ་བ་མ་ལུས་ཕྱིར་བསལ་ཏེ། །
dripé drawa malü chir sel té
and waving aside, in an instant,
སྐད་ཅིག་ལག་པ་བརྐྱང་བསྐུམ་ཙམ་ཉིད་ལ། །
kechik lakpa kyangkum tsam nyi la
all our webs of obscuration,
དག་པའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་མཆོག་ཏུ་སྐྱེ་བར་ཤོག །
dakpé zhing kham chok tu kyewar shok
may we take birth in this supreme pure realm!
ཞིང་དབུས་རིན་ཆེན་ལས་གྲུབ་གཞལ་ཡས་ཁང༌། །
zhing ü rinchen lé drup zhelyé khang
The palace at its center is built of precious gems,
བྱང་སེམས་སྨོན་ལམ་སྟོབས་ལས་རྣམ་འཕྲུལ་པ། །
jangsem mönlam top lé namtrülpa
magically conjured by the power of bodhisattvas’ aspirations,
བཀོད་པའི་ཁྱད་པར་བློ་ལས་འདས་པའི་ནང༌། །
köpé khyepar lo lé depé nang
with extraordinary arrangements surpassing every thought.
རྒྱལ་སྲས་རྒྱ་མཚོས་མདུན་གྱིས་བལྟས་པའི་དབུས། །
gyelsé gyatsö dün gyi tepé ü
Within it, surrounded by oceans of bodhisattvas,
གཏེར་ཆེན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་རྒྱལ་པོ་མཆོག་གྱུར་གླིང༌། །
terchen chö kyi gyelpo chokgyur ling
is the Dharma king, the great tertön Chokgyur Lingpa,
མངོན་བྱང་དབྱིངས་ལས་གཟུགས་ཀྱི་སྐུར་བཞེངས་པ། །
ngönjang ying lé zuk kyi kur zhengpa
a rūpakāya arisen from the space of full awakening,
སེམས་དཔའ་ཆེན་པོ་པདྨའི་མྱུ་གུ་ནི། །
sempa chenpo pemé nyugu ni
none other than the great bodhisattva Lotus Essence.
དམར་གསལ་ཉིན་བྱེད་སྟོང་གི་གཟི་འབར་བ། །
mar sel nyinjé tong gi zibarwa
Brilliant red in color, glowing like a thousand suns,
ཕྱག་གཡས་མཆོག་སྦྱིན་འདོད་འབྱུང་ནོར་བུས་མཚན། །
chak yé chok jin dö jung norbü tsen
in his right hand he holds, in the boon-granting gesture, a wish-fulfilling jewel.
གཡོན་པས་སྐྱབས་སྦྱིན་ཨུཏྤལ་ཚེ་བུམ་བསྣམས། །
yönpé kyap jin utpel tsebum nam
In his left, he holds, in the refuge-granting gesture, a blue-colored lotus with a vase of longevity.
དར་དང་རིན་ཆེན་རྒྱན་སྤྲས་མཚན་དཔེ་རྫོགས། །
dar dang rinchen gyen tré tsenpé dzok
Silks and jewels adorn him, and all the major and minor marks,
ཕྱེད་སྐྱིལ་པདྨ་ཉི་ཟླའི་གདན་ལ་བཞུགས། །
chekyil pema nyidé den la zhuk
as he sits in half-vajra on a throne of lotus, sun, and moon.
ཐུགས་རྗེའི་འོད་ཟེར་ཕྱོགས་བཅུའི་ཞིང་དུ་འཕྲོ། །
tukjé özer chok chü zhing du tro
He radiates compassion to all realms of the ten directions.
དྲི་མེད་སྤྱན་རས་གདུལ་བྱར་རྟག་ཏུ་གཟིགས། །
drimé chenré düljar tak tu zik
His flawless eyes gaze constantly on the beings to be tamed,
ཐེག་ཆེན་ཕྱིར་མི་ལྡོག་པའི་ཆོས་སྒོ་སྟོན། །
tekchen chir midokpé chögo tön
guiding them through the doorway of the irreversible Mahāyāna,
འབྲེལ་ཚད་བྱང་ཆུབ་སྙིང་པོར་དབུགས་འབྱིན་པ། །
dreltsé jangchup nyingpor uk jinpa
assuring any who connect with him of supreme awakening.
རྒྱལ་སྲས་མཆོག་དེའི་ཞལ་རས་མངོན་སུམ་དུ། །
gyelsé chok dé zhelré ngön sum du
Upon seeing the face of this eminent bodhisattva,
མཐོང་ནས་ཞི་བསིལ་བདུད་རྩིའི་རོ་མཆོག་མྱང༌། །
tong né zhi sil dütsi ro chok nyang
one savors the cooling taste of the most supreme of nectars.
རྟག་ཏུ་དམ་པའི་ཆོས་ཀྱི་མཛོད་འཛིན་ཅིང༌། །
tak tu dampé chö kyi dzö dzin ching
Constantly maintaining the treasury of sacred Dharma,
བྱང་ཆུབ་ཆེན་པོར་ལུང་བསྟན་ཐོབ་པ་དང༌། །
jangchup chenpor lungten topa dang
may we receive for ourselves the prophecy of great awakening,
བཟང་པོ་སྤྱོད་པ་རྒྱ་མཚོ་མཐར་ཕྱིན་ནས། །
zangpo chöpa gyatso tarchin né
may we bring to perfection an ocean of noble deeds,
རྒྱལ་བ་ཀུན་བསྔགས་ཞིང་མཆོག་དམ་པ་རུ། །
gyelwa kün ngak zhing chok dampa ru
and, within this realm sublime, praised by all the buddhas,
ཚེ་དང་ཡེ་ཤེས་གཟི་བརྗིད་དཔག་མེད་ཅིང༌། །
tsé dang yeshé ziji pakmé ching
amid the boundless splendor of life and wisdom,
རྣམ་ཀུན་མཁྱེན་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་ཉིད་གྱུར་ཅིག །
namkün khyenpé sangyé nyi gyur chik
may we awaken to the buddhahood of omniscient wisdom!
སངས་རྒྱས་སྐུ་གསུམ་བརྙེས་པའི་བྱིན་རླབས་དང༌། །
sangyé ku sum nyépé jinlap dang
By the blessings of the buddhas who have attained the three kāyas,
ཆོས་ཉིད་མི་འགྱུར་བདེན་པའི་བྱིན་རླབས་དང༌། །
chönyi mingyur denpé jinlap dang
by the blessings of the unchanging truth of dharmatā,
དགེ་འདུན་མི་ཕྱེད་འདུན་པའི་བྱིན་རླབས་ཀྱིས། །
gendün miché dünpé jinlap kyi
and by the blessings of the unshakeable will of the Sangha,
ཇི་ལྟར་བསྔོས་ཤིང་སྨོན་པ་འགྲུབ་པར་ཤོག །
jitar ngö shing mönlam drupar shok
may our every wish and dedication be fulfilled!
ཞིང་གི་སྨོན་ལམ་འདིའང་ཟབ་གསང་གི་མངའ་བདག་ཀུན་མཁྱེན་བླ་མའི་ཟབ་ཆོས་ཐུགས་གཏེར་འབེབས་པའི་ཡིག་བྲིས་ཀྱི་ཞབས་འདེགས་ཞུས་སྐབས་བགྱིད་དགོས་པའི་བཀའ་སྩལ་སྤྱི་བོར་ཕེབས་པ་དང༌། གནས་མདོ་གཅོད་བླ་སྤྲུལ་སྐུ་དང་དཔལ་ཁྱིམ་སྔགས་འཆང་ཨོ་རྒྱན་བསྟན་འཛིན་སོགས་སྔ་ཕྱིར་དོན་གཉེར་མང་པོའི་བཞེད་སྐོང་སླད་པདྨ་གར་དབང་བློ་གྲོས་མཐའ་ཡས་པའི་སྡེས་དབེན་པའི་རི་ངོགས་སུ་བྲིས་པ་ཡ་ཐཱ་སིདྡྷིརྦྷ་བ་ཏུ། དགེ་ལེགས་འཕེལ།། །།
I have had the honor of serving the Omniscient Guru [Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo], sovereign of profound secrets, as a scribe. On this particular occasion, as I was committing to writing the profound teachings revealed from his wisdom heart, he said I should compose an aspiration for the Lotus Covered Realm. Thus, honoring his command as well as the oft-repeated requests of the Chö Lama and Tulku of Nedo, the tantrika Orgyen Tenzin, and others, this aspiration to be reborn in the pureland was written by Pema Garwang Lodrö Tayé [Jamgön Kongtrül] in a remote mountain retreat. Yathā siddhirbhavatu. May virtue and excellence increase!
