Prayer for Rebirth in the Copper-Colored Mountain of Glory

An Aspiration composed by Khandro Yeshé Tsogyal

emaho, namdak zaplam tönpé lama dang༔

Emaho! Gurus who show me the path pure and profound,༔

drup la dögu tsölwé yidam lha༔

yidam deities who grant me all I can desire for practice,༔

barché malü selwé khandro la༔

and ḍākinīs who dispel each and every obstacle:༔

sölwa depso tsewé zung du söl༔

I pray to you, please embrace me with your love!

dak ni chiwar gyurwé dü kyi tsé༔

When my time of death arrives,

tsé dir zhenpé nangwa mi jung zhing༔

let me not cling onto this life,༔

zhingkham zhen du powé dren dün gyi༔

but, intent on traveling to another realm,༔

lü sem drelwé dukngel mepar shok༔

may I be free of pain as mind and body part!

tsé di nangwa nupar gyurpé tsé༔

As the appearances of this life fade away,

ja ö dung dang metok char bep shing༔

let there be rainbows, flower rains, and relics,༔

yang nyen lugar rölmö tsok dang ché༔

and, with voices and instruments melodiously resounding,༔

pawo khandrö dün né suwar shok༔

may the vīras and ḍākinīs come forth to greet me!

detsé drenpa ma nyam kyerim sel༔

With steady mindfulness may my generation stage become clear,

dzokrim tingzin mi yo ngön gyur né༔

and may I actualize the completion stage’s unwavering samadhi!

zungjuk dorjé chang gi kur zheng té༔

From their union, may I arise in the form of Vajradhara,

and travel upon the unmistaken path!

gelté lé kyi khorwar khyam si na༔

Yet, if my karma leads me to wander in samsara,

nyelwé sachok yi ong zhelyé khang༔

may the lands of hell appear as fine celestial palaces,༔

nyel sung nam kyang nangtong lha yi ku༔

hell’s guardians as deities’ empty yet apparent forms,༔

narmé dukngel dewar charwar shok༔

and may unbearable suffering be perceived as bliss!

rikzin lama nam kyi ta né ten༔

With vidyādhara gurus closing the ranks,

yidam lhatsok nam kyi gyap ten né༔

and yidam deity hosts backing me up,༔

chökyong sungma nam kyi chi né kyong༔

may Dharma protectors and guardians escort me༔

pawo khandrö dün né suwar shok༔

as ḍākas and ḍākinīs come forth to greet me!

nupchok orgyen zangdok pel gyi ri༔

In Uḍḍiyāna’s western Copper-Colored Mountain of Glory,

pema ö kyi drawé zhelyé khang༔

in the Lotus Light Net celestial palace,༔

rikzin lama shukpé shingkham su༔

the pure land where vidyādhara gurus reside,༔

pemé bup su dzü té kyewar shok༔

may I miraculously take birth within a lotus flower!

kyé ma tak tu gyelsé pema dang༔

As soon as I am born, may I meet face to face

ngö su jel né yinpar ngoshé né༔

with Padma, heir of victors, and recognize it is him!

chöma minpé mögü drakpo yi༔

Then, with genuine, fierce devotion,

drelmé ten ching jesu dzinpar shok༔

may I follow and rely upon him without fail!

detsé rikzin pema jungné dang༔

Thus, becoming an heir to Vidyādhara Padmasambhava,

sangyé jangsem rikzin khandrö tsok༔

to the buddhas, bodhisattvas, all vidyādharas,༔

gyelwa nam kyi sé su dak gyur né༔

the hosts of ḍākinīs and all victors,༔

mi nup tenpé gyeltsen dzinpar shok༔

may I uphold the teachings’ unfaltering banner!

kham sum khorwé semchen malüpa༔

Swiftly liberating all beings of the three realms

khorwé gyatso ché lé nyur drel né༔

from the vast ocean of samsara,༔

namdröl tarpé ling du tri nüpé༔

may I become an omniscient guide to beings,༔

depön tamché khyenpar dak gyur chik༔

capable of leading them all to the land of liberation!

lamé könchok sum gyi jinlap dang༔

By the blessings of the utmost Three Jewels,

yidam lhatsok nam kyi nütu dang༔

the power of hosts of yidam deities,༔

dak gi lhaksam dakpé tutop kyi༔

and the force of my pure altruistic wish,༔

jitar mönpé né dir drupar shok༔

may my prayers be fulfilled in this very way!

Here ends the prayer composed by Khandro Yeshé Tsogyel in the forest charnel ground of Chimpu.

Translated at the request of Kyapgön Phakchok Rinpoche by his faithful disciple, Oriane Sherap Lhamo, for the benefit of the sangha and of all beings. Lhasey Lotsawa Translations, Jan. 2021.
