The Fivefold Consecration

There are five consecrations: that of the cleansing water, vajra and bell, kīla, mala, and drum.

1. The Cleansing Water

om hayagriva hung phé

oṃ hayagrīva hūṃ phaṭ

rang nyi kechik gi pema heruka pema dang tötrak dzinpé kur gyur, dé tuka né ram yam kham tröpé madakpé ngödzin tamché sek tor jang

Instantly I become Lotus Heruka holding a lotus and skull cup filled with blood. From my heart center, raṃ [རཾ] yaṃ [ཡཾ] and khaṃ [ཁཾ] radiate out, burning, scattering, and washing away all impure fixation.

tongpé nganglé sangchü tengdu ma surya mandala nyima la nepé hung yig marpo, sapa rana pé, sang harana hung, trodu yongsu gyurpa lé, om pema maha trodhishori hung pé, tromo wangchuk ma marmo drilbu dang bhenmar dzinpé kur gyur

From within emptiness, there appears above the cleansing water a sun disk. ma sūryamaṇḍala. Upon this sun disc is a red letter hūṃ. Sapharaṇa phaṭ saṃharaṇa hūṃ. Radiating out and gathering back, it transforms with “oṃ padma mahākrodhiśvarī hūṃ phaṭ” into red Krodiśvarī holding a bell and skull cup filled with rakta.

Imagining this, touch the vessel with the one-pointed vajra mudrā, and say:

om maha trodhishori sarva drabayam shodaya om ah hung hrih tah

oṃ mahākrodhiśvarī sarvadravyaṃ śodhaya oṃ āḥ hūṃ hrīḥ ṭhaḥ

Consecrate it by reciting that one hundred and eight times. Then imagine:

tromo wangchuk mé rangshyin chü dül trarab tu gyur

The nature of Krodiśvarī dissolves into the atoms of water.

Recite three times:

om maha trodhishori sarva drabayam shodaya hung pé

oṃ mahākrodhiśvarī sarvadravyaṃ śodhaya hūṃ phaṭ

With that, sprinkle the cleansing water on yourself, the place, and all the articles. Always perform the sprinkling of cleansing water with this water.

2. Vajra and Bell

oṃ vajra-kīli-kīlaya hūṃ phaṭ

purbu sechok kur gyurpé༔

Through the light-rays of oṃ [ༀ] āḥ [ཨཱཿ] hūṃ [ཧཱུྃ],༔

gek dang damsi lokdren nam༔

endowed with the power to tame༔

dülwé nüpa denpar gyur༔

all obstructers, samaya corrupters, and false guides.

om bendza kili kilaya sarva bighanen bam hung phé༔

oṃ vajra-kīli-kīlaya sarva vighnān bāṃ hūṃ phaṭ༔

Saying that, roll the kīla.

4. Mala

Place the mala in your left hand and say:

a tsandra dawa lané tram yig nga༔

Āḥ! From five trāṃ [ཏྲཱཾ] syllables on a candra, a moon disc,༔

ötrö sangyé tamché kyi༔

light radiates out. It gathers back the blessings༔

sungi dorjé jin lap dü༔

of the vajra speech of all buddhas༔

yönten denpé trengwar gyur༔

and becomes a mala with enlightened qualities.

lha nam tukdam külwa dang༔

May it invoke the heart samaya of all deities,

dzap dé sangyé tamché kyi༔

and may recitation accomplish༔

sung yang mizé drupar shok༔

the inexhaustible melodious speech of all buddhas!

Recite the essence mantra of whichever deity you are practicing.

5. Drum

nyima lané hung yigi༔

The letter hūṃ [ཧཱུྃ] atop a sun disc༔

and transforms into a drum, the nature of primordial wisdom,༔

6. Giving the Torma

Burn, scatter, and cleanse the torma with:

ram yam kham

raṃ yaṃ khaṃ

tongpé ngang lé drung lé rinpoché nö yang zhing gyachewé nangdu torma kadok driro nüpa phünsum tsokpar gyur

From within emptiness, there appears from bhrūṃ [བྷྲཱུྃ] an open, vast jewel vessel inside of which is a torma of perfect color, smell, taste, and potency.

Consecrate it with:

om ah hung

oṃ āḥ hūṃ

Invite with:

bhumipati saparivara bendza samah dzah

bhūmipati saparivāra vajrasamājaḥ

Dedicate it by reciting the following, three times:
